Your Doctors
Dr. Theis and Dr. Jackson first met in a medical office in Bogalusa, Louisiana in 1996 and then worked with The Family Doctors in Marrero for 3 years, until 2000, when Dr. Jackson opened her solo practice and Dr. Theis went to Tulane to work full time at the medical school. They returned to the West Bank to practice together in 2008, this time in an office they run themselves!
See below for a little more about your doctors and what they can do for you.

Dr. Patty Jackson
Dr. Jackson was raised in Alexandria, Louisiana. She obtained her bachelor's degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, followed by her M.D. from LSU Medical School in Shreveport. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Ochsner in New Orleans in 1995 and has been in practice since 1997, primarily in Marrero. Dr. Jackson remains board-certified in Internal Medicine.
She opened her own solo practice in Marrero in June of 2002 and has developed a small but loyal following of patients over the past 20 years.
Dr. Jackson's professional interests include preventive care, well-woman care and management of chronic diseases. In her free time, she loves being a mom and sharing the outdoors with her daughter. She is skilled at photography (you'll find many of her photographs on the office walls, in fact), loves good books and travel. She and her husband are active members of Trinity Episcopal Church in New Orleans. Drs. Jackson and Theis were married in 1999 and live in New Orleans' Uptown neighborhood. Their daughter, Emma, was born in 2009.

Dr. Jim Theis
Dr. Theis moved to Louisiana permanently in the fall of 1997. He was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Centre College in Danville, KY in 1989. He attended The Ohio State University School of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio for his M.D. degree, and stayed in Columbus until 1996 to complete a 3-year residency in Family Medicine at Grant Medical Center. He remains board-certified in Family Medicine.
After practicing on the West Bank for just over 2 years, Dr. Theis joined the faculty of Tulane Medical School in 2000 and spent the next 8 years teaching medical students and seeing patients at his practice in Uptown New Orleans. He remains very happy to have returned to Marrero and West Jefferson as Dr. Jackson's "new" partner... way back in 2008. His professional interests include full-spectrum Family Medicine, with a focus on dermatology and skin "lumps and bumps" surgery, sports medicine and mental health, particularly substance use disorders and alcoholism.
In 2019, Dr. Theis completed an additional course of study to become a Certified Ontological Coach. Ontological coaching is a form of "talk therapy" that incorporates mood and body awareness to help people get more of the results they want in life. Click here to learn more about ontological coaching and what Dr. Theis offers in this regard, usually on Friday afternoons and outside of regular office hours.
Dr. Theis continues to teach Tulane medical students in the office and remains on the clnical faculty of Tulane Medical School.
His personal interests are similar to his wife's: topping the list are travel, staying active in the outdoors and reading. Dr. Theis also plays the piano and sings in his church choir.
